At Shanahan Contracting Ltd, we deliver high-quality waste, tankering, and drainage services across the UK. Our team is experienced, professional, and committed to completing every project safely, efficiently, and responsibly.
With the support and expertise of the wider Maydencroft network, we can draw on additional resources in land management, civils works, and environmental services whenever projects require it.
Our founding
“Shanahan’s” was founded by Gary Shanahan in 1990. Starting from word-of-mouth recommendations, the company quickly expanded into civil engineering projects and local authority contracts.
Recognising the demand for drain inspection and cleaning, Gary bought a hand-crank jetting unit and one of the first drain CCTV systems, learning the technology at home. Soon after, a tanker was added, creating a diverse service offering that would establish Shanahan as a well-known, family-run civils and waste disposal company in the South East.

Early growth
By 2011, increasing demand meant a larger team was required. Gary incorporated the company as Shanahan Contractors Ltd and ran it with his sister Debbie. The company secured key contracts, including septic tank emptying for Affinity Water, and became a leading liquid waste disposal provider in the region.

Joining Maydencroft
While working for Affinity Water, Gary met Tom Williams and his team at Maydencroft. In February 2018, Shanahan Contractors was acquired by Maydencroft and rebranded as Shanahan Contracting. Gary remains as a consultant, and Debbie continued day-to-day operations during the transition.

A new chapter
